November 11, 2022 – Virrah

For some reason, I always felt that Virrah got neglected the most out of all my toons. Not sure why, but I was very happy to spend some time with her in Evendim today.

ScreenShot_2022-11-11_072242_0

I understand why some players don’t like Evendim. That lake is huge and sometimes the only way to get certain places is to swim it, which takes FOREVER (hence the nickname “Everswim”). But it’s just so beautiful. The lake is gorgeous and exploring all the tombs and ruins is really fun. My only complaint is that there are SOOOOOOO many deeds. You have to slay EVERYTHING basically.

Today, Virrah assisted an Ent named Longbough defeat an ancient evil in his forest before joining up with some of the Dunedain to help with some tomb robbers in the Way of Kings. Not a bad way to spend a day.

**UPDATE ON THE ANOR SITUATION**

World transfers were back up and running this morning, so I managed to request a transfer for the Anor folks to get them and their loot back! We will be making our new home on the Gladden server once the transfer goes through. I have no idea how long that might take, since I’m assuming there are a few other people also in the same boat, but at least the I-Squad will be back in business!

November 10, 2022 – Tansiel

Working my way through my toons to see where everyone is. Turns out, Tansiel was still hanging out in Bree waiting to take on more dead baddies in the Barrow Downs.

Today was fun. Tansy fell in with a higher level character who was helping a newbie friend get through some deeds. When they saw that I was doing the same, they invited me to join them in a fellowship. Since this guy was level 100, he was able to one-shot pretty much everything there, so Tansy was getting credit for doing basically nothing. It was all going well until my internet decided to act up. Once I got back online, my friends were gone. I feel bad since it looks like I just ghosted them. Tansy managed to finish up her deeds by herself – even though she isn’t as high a level, she is still a pretty good fighter and could take out barrow-wardens and spirits in just a few hits. She managed to get through the rest of the deeds in Bree-land with the exception of the Wildwood deeds, which she will do once she starts questing there.

ScreenShot_2022-11-10_080807_0As far as deeds go, Tansiel is pretty much caught up except for a few deeds in Ered Luin, but those are in Sarnur and might be difficult for her right now. So we might just head back to the Trollshaws for some questing and finishing up the deeds there as well.

No full stats today because my chat log wasn’t set up right on Tansiel’s account. But here’s what I did do.

Deeds Completed

  • Executioner of the Wicked
  • Grave Digger
  • Nemesis of the Fallen
  • Grave Digger Advanced
  • Nemesis of the Fallen Advanced

Not bad for a morning’s work!

November 8, 2022 – Apphirie

My little hobbit minstrel is going on an adventure indeed, starting her trip into the dark world of Angmar. It’s a scary place, and quite frankly, not my favorite part of the game. It’s just so dark! Makes things very hard to see, which is the point, I assume. And the music for this area is just unsettling. Again, that’s the point, I know. But I also tend to listed to other things whenever I play in Angmar, just because.

ScreenShot_2022-11-09_075252_0Our journey today takes Apphirie to the city of Aughaire in southern Angmar. She was instructed to present herself to the chieftain, and since she is a respectful hobbit, she does so. Crannog is not a trusting fellow, but he has reason not to be. He places a challenge on Apphirie so that she may prove her trustworthiness, instructing her to complete tasks for three of his most trusted tribesmen: Torquil, Raith and Osbail. As she fights wargs, orcs and the Trev Duvardain, she collects trophies and treasures to bring back to Crannog to show just what she is made of.

It’s not quite enough, and although Crannog seems impressed, he is still not convinced. But that is a tale for another time.

Stats for today:

Also, just as a note: it appears that in the time I was away from LOTRO that the Anor Legendary server is no more? I’m guessing that the toons I had on there are long gone at this point. I’m going to explore and see if they were shifted somewhere else, but I’m guessing that since I hadn’t been on in a while, they were probably just deleted.

RIP to the I-Squad: Iarvald, Ilgir, Iridia, Itylara, Ivien and Ixulias. It was fun while it lasted.

**UPDATE: It looks like transfers from the Anor server were supposed to be available until December 31st, but as of right now, all transfers are currently unavailable. According to the forums, it’s been this way for a while now. So there’s a very slim chance that I could get them back, but I’m not holding my breath. They wouldn’t be able to transfer to another legendary server anyway, which was why I created them in the first place. I might just recreate them and start over on one of the new legendaries. We’ll see.

May 30, 2020 – Nirawyn

Well, well, ladies and germs, it’s been a while!

Nirawyn 20200530Today, I played around with my highest level character: Nirawyn, my level 85 human guardian. She is currently going back to try and finish up some deeds back in prior areas. There’s only one deed left in Evendim that she needs to finish up: Leaders of the Invasion (Advanced). Whew, this one is tough, even at a much higher level! The first one we tackled was Nengon, which wasn’t too bad. He’s an evil darkwater in Glinghant, once a beautiful garden in Annúminas is now overrun with all kinds of baddies. Too bad. It looks like it used to be quite a beautiful place.

Nengon was surprisingly easy to defeat, although to be fair, since I was soloing what is usually a six-person Instance, I leveled it down quite a bit so I could have a better chance. Once Nengon was taken out, it was time to move on to the next baddies on my list: Shingrinder and Dolvaethor in Haudh Valandil. It started off well. Got through the lower level without much difficulty. Went up the stairs and managed to dispatch Shingrinder, although he tried to throw me off a bridge. Dolvaethor, however, proved to be more troublesome. Or rather, he would have if I had been able to get to him. He hid behind a wall of flame and kept throwing flaming limrafn at me. Those things hurt. A lot. I’ll need to do some research to see about some better strategies to get past those.

On to the stats:

Quests Completed:

  • Darkest of Waters
  • Glinghant Corrupted
  • The Kergrim Stalk Haudh Valandil

Quests Bestowed (not completed):

  • End Dolvaethor’s Menace (Eh, well I tried!)

Deeds Completed:

  • None this time

Deeds Bestowed (not completed):

  • Annúminas – Glinghant
  • Annúminas – Haudh Valandil

Side note: I didn’t realize until today that Instances also have deeds. I never really paid that much attention to Instances since you usually need multiple people and I prefer to play solo. That just gives me more to work on, I guess.

  • 6 Angmarim Lookouts

August 17, 2019 – Apphirie

Character: Apphirie – level 51        Server: Crickhollow

Race/Class: Hobbit Minstrel

Apphirie had one goal and one goal only: to complete the Garth Agarwen Exploration deed and finish up the Deeds of the Lone-lands. It has been a while since she has quested in the Lone-lands, but Garth Agarwen just takes so much out of you. There is a reason why that whole area is meant for fellowships. Apphirie is at least 20 levels above what that level is supposed to be and it’s still really hard to solo. Fortunately, as a minstrel, she was able to continuously heal herself, although the two guards at the Garth Agarwen Gate, Esyld and Edan, took several tries. They are tough! Also tough, was the final guardian of the Spring of the Red Maid, Vatar. You kill him once, and then he spawns a whole bunch of crawlers, which are easy to kill, but there are just so many of them! And then you have to kill Vatar again, while he still spits crawlers out at you! Finally made it through the whole thing and completed my goal. Yay!

August 15, 2019 – Frinara

Character: Frinara – level 56               Server: Crickhollow

Race/Class: Human Hunter

Frinara is mostly right now focusing on Slayer Deeds in Evendim. Today was a pretty productive outing, finishing up several deeds. First, she focused on the Gertheryg walking through Annúminas. There is a corridor of them going across the bridge to Tyl Annún, including the Titan. I usually left the Titan alone though, since he’s needed for a quest turn in and I wasn’t questing today. I left him for someone else’s quarry.

Tyl Ruinen

I know people jokingly refer to this region as “Everswim,” but it is awfully pretty.

Next up was Giants! The place for giants in Evendim is Amon Môth on the west coast of the lake. There are quite a few giants there and they respawn pretty fast. It only took me a few passes through to finish up this deed. Finally, I had a bunch of salamanders left to hunt. Easiest way is to run around in circles on Tyl Ruinen. I had already gotten a pretty good jump on this one after hunting limrafn in Barandulf.

August 3, 2019 – Zylleith

Character: Zylleith – level 13             Server: Crickhollow

Race/Class: Beorning

Zylleith is my only Beorning. I had another one, but deleted it. Sadly, I don’t even remember her name. After one of the Updates, I decided to give Beornings another try, and thus Zylleith was born. Beornings are fun, although I think they were a little over-hyped. You get to turn into a bear, which is cool, but there doesn’t seem to be much advantage to fighting as a bear. You don’t move much faster, your attacks aren’t that much more powerful. It is fun though, so I guess that’s the point.

Zylleith Bear (2)

Zylleith is also my only toon that fights with a great axe. So that’s cool. She is also an explorer by trade, so that she can farm ore and wood. I haven’t done much crafting with her, since my other toons are so far ahead of her and can make her anything she needs, but we’ll focus on that at some point.

We spent our time in the Shire working on the Spoiled Pies deed. I absolutely love the Shire. It is one of my favorite regions in the entire game, but unless you create a hobbit, it is really easy to miss it entirely. There may be a few other deeds or quests that take you briefly to the Shire, but that is no where near enough time to truly get the Shire experience. It’s why I’ve started taking all of my toons through the Shire, whether they are hobbits or not. The Spoiled Pie deed, as well as the Quick Post deed, is a really good way to get a full tour of the region, which is why I enjoy them.

July 30, 2019 – Eadneyth

Character: Eadneyth           Server: Crickhollow

Race: Human                        Class: Captain

Eadneyth is the only one of my toons that has a (very small and barely defined) backstory. I created her because I wanted another tank, but something other than a guardian. I hadn’t played a captain before, so I wanted to give it a try. When I made her, my randomization made her blondish, sort of like Nirawyn has, and since they are both my tanks, it made sense that Eadie should be Nira’s younger sister.

Eadie fights with a halberd and has a man at arms named Fritz who carries her standard. She is my main weaponsmith for the Crickhollow bunch. In today’s session, she is catching up on some Bree quests in and around Staddle and Chetwood.
